We thank God for enabling us to be here today. We feel humbled before you all; Family, Fellow Believers and Friends.
On 25/9/2025, my wife and I were requested to join Pastor Paul Kamiri, Deacon Stephen Maina and Mrs. Esther Wanjeri Karanja for a discussion. Although, the notice was short, we obliged and met at a location agreed upon. Prior to our meeting, a lot of thoughts were going through my mind regarding many unanswered questions. Eventually when we met, everyone seemed very relaxed taking their beverages. They said they were delivering a message from a group called, ‘Mountain Climbers’, who would like to organize a Thanksgiving Event, for our spiritual journey. We were told that our contribution to the event would be minimal except to invite our friends and family.
We didn’t have much to say to that, except that we shall pray that all glory and honour be to God and His will be done. When I reflected on the happenings, I could only echo the words of Psalms 118:23-24 “This is God’s doing, and it shall be marvelous in our eyes, and we shall rejoice and be glad in it”.
Regarding our 50 years of married life, since 28/6/1975, it has not been a story of our strength, wisdom or perfection, but a testimony of God’s faithfulness through every season. We have had moments of joy and laughter, trials and tears, strength and weakness, lack and plenty. In every condition the grace of God has been sufficient. We are a living testimony of all those who are committed, trusting and allowing God to build their lives and homes, as indicated in Psalms 127:1.
My gratitude to my wife, Sonia, who has been a strong pillar in this home, to me and our children. She has many good attributes which are reflected in her personality. For example, given the choose between riding on a boda boda or tuku tuku, she would choose the latter, or between boda boda and walking, she would choose walking. Besides supporting our family, she has touched and uplifted many others in the society.
